If single sign on fails

When a sign-in attempt is refused, the login page now tells you why rather than reporting a generic error. The message is worth reading before trying again, because the three common causes need different things from you:

  • “Could not find record for your address — the sign-in worked, but no manager account in PPE uses that email address. Sign in with your email and password instead, then add the address to your profile so single sign on recognises it next time.
  • “This Microsoft account is not linked to any Vending on Track manager account” — as above, for Microsoft. The message suggests the address it received, which is useful when you have more than one Microsoft account and signed in with the wrong one.
  • “Invalid token or expired token” or a message saying sign-in did not return a token — the sign-in did not complete on Google’s or Microsoft’s side, usually because the page sat open too long. Refresh the login page and try again.

If a message tells you to contact support, quote the time you tried and the address you used; both are recorded and let support find the attempt.
